The competition for the trainees to debut will most definitely be fierce.

On June 19th, Yang Hyun Suk, CEO of YG Entertainment, delivered another announcement through his column From YG on YG Life.

In his column, Papa YG justifies the reason behind the slow debut of the mysterious new YG Entertainment girl group. He has been cautious with training the group, as the new girl group will be the first full group to debut on YG since 2NE1 made a debut in 2004 and BIGBANG debuted in 2006. Within his musings, YG shared many details regarding the new girl group, the unique process being utilized to train the group, and the difficulty with some of the newest additions to YG Entertainment.

In regards to the new girl group, all of the members are trilingual and fluent within Korean, English, and Japanese. The fact that there is clear proficiency in English proves that YG intends on marketing the group internationally. YG Entertainment will utilize a non-traditional approach to debut the group. Starting in October, one to two members will debut at a time. The success of each debut will depend on their performance, as well as their acceptance by the public. Essentially, these will be solo artists who will come together as a group. This is in stark contrast to the debut of BIGBANG who debuted at the same time.

YG announced that Kim Yuna, from Super Star K, is no longer a trainee at YG Entertainment nor part of the girl group line up. Personal reasons were cited for her departure. Eunbi Kim , also of Super Star K, remains within the 6-person current line up for the girl group. The median age of the new girl group is seventeen years old, with Soo Hyun having just reached the age of fifteen.

YG announced that he is currently in Japan training with some of the newest additions to the label, Akdong Musician and Lee Hi. He addressed the comment that Akdong Musician previously made in which they stated that Lee Hi could be difficult and acknowledged that all of the newest YG additions have their own level of difficulty. Yang Hyun Suk attributed most of this interpersonal friction to age differences and cited that Lee Hi is no longer the youngest member of YG Family.

It will be fascinating to see what else will be revealed by Yang Hyun Suk over the course of the next few months.
