Idol of Idols Justin Bieber Visits Korea

Idol of Idols Justin Bieber Visits Korea

“Hello Seoul!”

The world-famous pop star Justin Bieber held his first Korean concert in the evening of October 10 at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Seoul. The audience numbered over 8000, many of them girl fans whose shrieks of delight continued all throughout the concert. The popular Korean artist G-Dragon of Big Bang also appeared on-stage as a guest.

Other K-pop stars showed up, as well, as fans of Justin. They included Super Junior, Girl’s Generation, Miss A, 2NE1, Wonder Girls, 2AM, and Teen Top.

Justin Bieber3245

Before the concert, Justin tweeted, “Show day in Korea. I got some surprises.” This appeared to refer to a performance of his new song “Heartbreaker”.

Justin arrived at the Arena 40 minutes late; the concert was scheduled to begin at 2000 (GMT+9). He slowly came down the stairs on-stage, dressed fashionably in all-white calf-length jacket, T-shirt, pants, and sneakers. On top of all this he had on black sunglasses.

First up was the hit song “All Around The World”. The audience stirred at the gay rhythm of the electronic dance music. When Justin shouted “Jump!” at the climax, they did just that.

Justin Bieber3235

Following this, he tossed his jacket away and sang “Take You”, and the quieter rhythm and blues song “Catching Feelings”.
In the middle of it all there was a short video introducing Justin’s rise to stardom. He became famous on YouTube at just 14 before he followed Stevie Wonder’s lead in becoming the youngest singer to top a Billboard chart.

Justin Bieber3350

As aforementioned, G-Dragon was a special guest, appearing to sing “Crayon”. Actually there were some hopes that Psy would show up, since they were labelmates through their mutual manager Scooter Braun’s School Boy Records. He didn’t show up, but instead Psy’s Korean labelmate G-Dragon took his place.

Justin Bieber3435

As the two-hour-long concert wound down, the audience screamed for an encore, and Justin sang his best hit songs “Boyfriend” and “Baby”. And so, regrettably, Justin Bieber’s first Korean concert ended.

Justin Bieber32350

Justin made some tweets on what he thought of the concert after it ended. He wrote, “Korea that was amazing. Thank u for the love. Shout out to my friend @IBGDRGN for coming out on stage tonight. They went crazy.”

2NE1 Discusses Upcoming Album Release, Comeback: 'Now Is The Time To Take Everything To Another Level' Rapper CL Says

It has been three years since 2NE1 has released a full-length album, and for the four members, as Tom Petty sings, "the waiting is the hardest part."

In an interview published with Dazed Digital published on Friday, the four members of 2NE1, CL, Bom, Dara and Minzy, explained what has taken them so long to release their new album and what fans can expect from them when they do.

"After releasing "I Love You," we immediately went on a world tour to meet with our foreign fans which pushed back our album plans," Dara explained.

Like Us on Facebook :

The group has released new music in bits and bobs, such as their single "Falling In Love" which they premiered on the South Korean TV music program "Inkigayo," in an appearance that they recall preparing vigorously for.

"As much as our fans have been waiting for us, we also couldn't wait to release new material," Minzy said.

Rapper and bandleader CL recalled all the hard work.

"We made an active decision to prepare for that comeback like it was our debut," CL said.

"We wanted to work as hard as possible and prepare as much as we can. We worked on a lot of material and 'Falling In Love' came out at a time that fit the summer season."

Although the band members refused to offer specifics on when their new album would be out or what it would sound like, CL promised it would be a departure from the girl group's earlier material.

"It's hard to reveal all of the exact differences since we have yet to release the material," she said.

"However, I can assure you that you will see the fierce 2NE1 that you have seen on our past releases but also a more developed and evolved 2NE1. We've definitely evolved on this album and can't wait for everyone to hear it."

One of the few details CL did offer was that 2NE1, known for their badass image, is getting in touch with their softer side on the new album, a move she says the members are totally comfortable with.

"It wasn't an attempt to break away from that fierce concept we are known for [on the new album] it was something that came about naturally," she said.

"We recorded fun tracks and decided to show a different side of ourselves that was more pleasant. We did have to adjust a bit to this performance aspect and even asked ourselves, 'are we really allowed to smile like this on stage?'"

"I believe now is the time to take everything to another level," she added.

2NE1 Addresses New Album, Song Delay In Recent Interview: CL, Dara, Bom, And Minzy 'Working Hard To Prepare For The Album'

2NE1 has been globetrotting for promotional activities lately despite a delay in their new album and single, and a recent interview with Dazed Digital sees CL, Dara, Minzy, and Bom addressing the backlash on their delayed comeback.

In this refreshingly candid interview, 2NE1 was asked about the delay in their new album and single, and the YG ladies admitted to feeling impatient as well.

"After releasing 'I Love You' we immediately went on a world tour to meet with our foreign fans which pushed back our album plans," said Dara according to YGLadies.

Like Us on Facebook :

"Before our (summer) comeback we continuously recorded songs, maintained our health by working out and decided what kind of items and concepts we should wear and do for our new single. We were working hard to prepare for the album," added Bom.

"As much as our fans have been waiting for us, we also couldn't wait to release new material," said Minzy.

It appears that despite the long silence, 2NE1 is eagerly waiting to release their new album and songs. However, given their recent duties at KBEE 2013 and Taeyang's comeback this month, Blackjacks will most likely have to wait a little longer to see their ladies on stage again.

During the interview, 2NE1 also teased their upcoming new album with some interesting but vague details.

"It's hard to reveal all of the exact differences since we have yet to release the material," said CL regarding their evolution since their 2011 album.

"However, I can assure you that you will see the fierce 2NE1 that you have seen on our past releases but also a more developed and evolved 2NE1. We've definitely evolved on this album and can't wait for everyone to hear it."

K-Pop Idols Speaking English: U.S. Celebrities Mingle With Girls' Generation, 2NE1, G-Dragon, And More!

K-Pop idols speaking English: U.S. celebrities mingle with Girls' Generation, 2NE1, G-Dragon, and more! (Twitter)

As K-Pop idols become international superstars, many idols are showing off their English speaking skills in order to mingle with U.S. celebrities and expand the reach of their music.

While being a fluent English speaker is definitely not a requirement for K-Pop idols to be popular around the world, some of the biggest names and groups in the industry have English speakers who are able to connect with celebrities around the world.

A prime example is G-Dragon, who has achieved an astounding number of international collaborations with names like Flo Rida, Missy Elliott, and Sky Ferreira. No doubt his English speaking skills have helped him communicate with artists and collaborate with celebrity musicians.

Check out this video below of G-Dragon speaking English with American choreographer Shaun Evaristo:

Another YG idol group who has capitalized on their English skills is 2NE1. CL is notorious for her English skills, and you can hear the group as a whole speaking English in the following collaboration songs with will.i.am.

But not every member of a K-Pop idol group needs to have fluent English skills in order to benefit the group, and Girls' Generation is a prime example of that.

As K-Pop fans and Sones may know, Girls' Generation members Tiffany and Jessica are both born in the U.S. and fluent English speakers. This has helped the group during promotion activities in America and mingle with U.S. celebrities.

Just check out this interview between Tiffany and Brad Pitt!

Do you think being able to speak English is an advantage within the K-Pop industry?

Which of These Idols Will Be Taking This Year’s College Admission Exams?

Today is the day of Suneung (also known as the CSAT, College Scholastic Ability Test), and most of this year’s exam takers will be third year high schoolers born in 1995. This includes the majority of idol stars born in that year as well.

Some of the idols taking the exams may already have university offers via the rolling admission system, but the rest will have to sit for the suneung on November 7 and their results will determine their college chances. On the flip side, there are an increasing number of idols deferring further education to focus on their entertainment activities.

A Pink‘s Son Na Eun studied for her college’s entrance exam whenever she had free time and has been accepted to Dongguk University. She will be a freshman at Dongguk University’s Department of Theater and Film Studies. Her agency, A Cube Entertainment revealed, “Son Na Eun is really pleased about her results, and is determined to do her best in her university studies.”

B1A4’s Sandeul is a 1992-er entering Myungji University’s Film and Musical Studies program. He applied to two universities and sat for their performance tests and was accepted to Myungji University’s program.

Girl group Rainbow’s Oh Seung Ah also made it into Sejong University via the rolling admission system. She had previously been admitted to Sangmyung University’s film program in 2008, but chose to drop out due to Rainbow’s activities. Oh Seung Ah prepared for the entrance exams in her spare time, and was accepted to Sejong University’s Film Arts Department.

VIXX’s Hyuk has also received an acceptance offer from Dong-ah Institute of Media and Arts.

Idols 1

Most of the idols who are eligible for suneung this year will be taking the standard route. Current 95-ers in their third year of high school who will be taking the suneung are Boyfriend’s Minwoo, Youngmin and Kwangmin, BTOB’s Sung Jae, SPEED‘s Sungmin, After School’s Ga Eun and F-ve DollsHyewon.

B1A4’s Baro, A Pink’s Kim Nam Joo and MYNAME’s Chaejin gave the rolling admission system a shot, but have decided to switch over to the suneung exam. According to MYNAME’s agency, H2 Media, “Chaejin was unable to sit for the second round of his entrance exams because of his activities. So he’s decided to sit for the suneung instead to gain college admission.”

Career First, Studies Later…

There has been an increasing trend of idols deferring entry to college in favor of pursuing their entertainment activities. Last year saw miss A’s Suzy, f(x)’s Sulli, 2NE1’s Minzy and AOA’s Seol Hyun deciding not to take sit for the exams. They will not take the exams this year either. Joining them are F-ve Dolls’ Eungyo, Topp Dogg’s Yano and A-tom.

Suzy, who didn’t sit for the exams last year and will not be taking them this year either, recently revealed, “I won’t be taking the exams this year either. For the present, instead of going to university, I will be focusing on miss A’s comeback activities.”

Topp Dogg’s agency, Stardom Entertainment, stated, “A-tom is currently focusing on his singing activities, and will not be taking the suneung. Yano had planned to take the exams but because of a clash with a music program appearance on November 7, he will be pushing back his plans of going to college.”

Actor Park Ji Bin will also be giving up on further education for now. His agency revealed that, “Park Ji Bin passed the high school qualification exam (GED) and is qualified to sit for the suneung exams. However, he wants to focus on his acting and has decided not to take the exams.”

Super rookie Lee Hi is holding up her V-sign and posing cutely for the camera. As a result of losing her baby fat, it is difficult not to notice the pretty doll-like look that she is now sporting.

Who's Going to College This Year? Idol Stars Taking The Test Are?

The 2014 College Scholastic Ability Test season has begun in Korea, and much attention is being given as to which idol is choosing to go to college. The nationally standardized CSAT is the test that determines college eligibility.

Most of the qualifying CSAT test takers this year are high school seniors born in 1995. This year, much more male idol stars are eligible than the girl groups. Regardless, many idol stars are choosing to be entertainers rather than students and forgoing the testing process.

Some stars have taken their graduation tests early and qualify for the CSAT. Some stars, such as A Pink's Naeun, have already gained acceptance to college by early private decisions.

Like Us on Facebook :

As f(x)'s Sulli and Miss A's Suzy did last year, many idol stars are forgoing the college process altogether. Their decision is based on the fact that despite their acceptance, they will not be able to attend schools with regularity. It's a wise decision because they will be able to continue their education after their careers have progressed further.

VIXX's Hyuk and Topp Dogg's Yano are two stars that forwent the process. They were not qualified to take the CSAT because they were not academically eligible. B.A.P.'s Jong Up took the CSAT last year but chose to not pursue higher education for the time being.

2NE1's Minzy, F-ve Dolls' Eunkyo, and C-Real's Ann J are all qualified for the CSAT, but they are not considering college education at the time.

HELLOVENUS' Yooyoung is also an idol star that is choosing to continue her career as an actress and an idol star. Pledis Entertainment, HELLO VENUS' company, stated that Yooyoung's busy schedule will conflict with a pursuit of college education, but it is not completely out of the picture for Yooyoung.

One of the reasons for a lack of idol stars taking the CSAT can be attributed to the lack of stars born in 1995. Consider EXO, who has 12 members that do not qualify for the CSAT this year.

Of course, there are those stars who are choosing to choose both a healthy career and a higher education. BTOB's Yook Sungjae is confirmed to take the upcoming CSAT. After his appereance as Ko Ara's little brother on the tvN drama "Respond 1994", he is looking forward to continuing his study of acting at a higher institute. He has previously attended a high school that specialized in the arts.

SPEED's Sungmin and F-ve Dolls' Hyewon are taking the CSAT as well. Their respective entertainment companies stated that their school attendance will be based on the results of the CSAT and which school they choose to attend based on that result.

A Pink's Namju and Boyfriend's Minwoo, Young Min, and Kwangmin all attend the same school and are all choosing to take the CSAT. MYNAME's ChaeJin is also preparing to take the CSAT with an emphasis on music application.

Another route that idol stars are taking to attend college is the private decision. This is based on the prerogative of each school to admit a few students each year based on their accomplishments or special talents without the need to factor in the results of the CSAT. As mentioned previously, Apink's Naeun, as well as Nu'EST's Ren, JR, Baekho, and Minhyun were all accepted to Dongkuk University's acting program via private decision. B1A4's Sandeul was accepted to Myungji University's Movies and Musical program.

[News] Spica′s Kim Bo Hyung Talks About Why She Didn′t Make It Into 2NE1

Spica′s Kim Bo Hyung, who was a former trainee at YG Entertainment, explained why she came to move to a new agency.

On the August 20 broadcast of OnStyle′s Lee Hyori′s X Unnie, the singer talked about how she ended up in Spica after training to become a member of 2NE1.

Lee Hyori first asked Kim Bo Hyung, "You were a trainee for 2NE1; why do you think you didn′t make it?"

Kim Bo Hyung didn′t make it into 2NE1 in the final member composition stage, and moved to B2M Entertainment after Yang Hyun Suk suggested she do so.

When Lee Hyori asked how she learned she didn′t make it, Kim Bo Hyung said, "I was sitting in the office when Mr. Yang Hyun Suk came to tell me."

"He said it′s not that I′m bad, it′s just that I didn′t fit the team, and he said I should work harder and not cry over it," she said.

Lee Hyori′s X Unnie is about how Lee Hyori produces Spica′s next album with aims of making it the next big girl group.

American Celebrities Who Love K-Pop: Lady Gaga, Jonas Brothers, Will Smith, Nina Dobrev, And More!

As K-Pop increases in popularity across the globe, more and more western and American celebrities are openly voicing their love for groups like Super Junior, 2NE1, and Wonder Girls.

Here is a quick rundown of some American celebrities who have shown their love for K-Pop music, groups, and artists!

What does Lady Gaga and YG producer Teddy Park have in common? Back in 2009, the pop singer approached the 1YTM leader to produce music for her, and believe it or not, was turned down Park.

Like Us on Facebook :

"I think that the music producer plays the part of setting a middle ground between what the composer was aiming for and the singer's intention," said Teddy Park a few months after the news.

"There were a lot of times when I was offered a large amount of money to compose and produce, but I turned the offer down because I didn't know that singer perfectly. I think that's why I've only worked with YG artists so far."

And Lady Gaga is not the only one who's all about YG artists. 2NE1 has a particularly far-reaching international fandom, and celebrities like will.i.am, "The Vampire Diaries" stars Kat Graham and Nina Dobrev, Will Smith, and The Wanted have all expressed their love for the girl group.

[embedded content]

While the Jonas Brothers are in a tenuous situation right now, they had the help of the Wonder Girls as a support act during their tour in 2009.

Other American celebrities who love K-Pop include Perez Hilton, Jeremy Scott, and many more.

And as the love for K-Pop continues to spread worldwide, no doubt more and more American celebrities will rise in support of the phenomenon.

Big Bang Rapper G-Dragon Is K-Pop's Highest Paid Songwriter-Performer

It's official. G-Dragon is the highest paid active songwriter-performer in K-pop, according to the publication eNEWS.

The Big Bang rapper and frontman was the only performer to be mentioned on a list of South Korean composers earning the most from songwriting royalties in 2012.

G-Dragon was listed as number five on the list, compiled by the Seoul Broadcasting System program "Good Morning," with total earnings of $744,000.

Like Us on Facebook :

SM Entertainment staff producer Yoo Young Jin, responsible for writing hits for major acts like Shinhwa and Super Junior, landed the number four spot with $782,000 in 2012 songwriting royalties.

YG Entertainment's star producer Hong Jun "Teddy" Park was third on the list with $886,000. Teddy has composed hits for girl group 2NE1 and Big Bang. While Zia and 2BiC producer Cho Young Soo was number two with $914,000.

The top earning South Korean songwriter in 2012 was JYP Entertainment CEO Park with royalties of $1.1 million. Park, although not currently active as a touring artist, formerly had a lucrative performing career under the name JYP.

All amounts were calculated before taxes.

At age 25, G-Dragon is the youngest on the list of top-earning songwriters.

And the K-pop superstar appears to have no intentions of slowing down, most recently composing and producing "Ringa Linga," the title track off of his Big Bang bandmate Taeyang's new album.

In a press release published on YG Entertainment's website on Friday, a representative for Big Bang's record label explained why G-Dragon's active role in Taeyang's new single is noteworthy.

"As a producer, G-Dragon has composed countless songs for Big Bang and also for himself, but him being involved in writing and composing the song for Taeyang's title track is unprecedented."

Later this month, T.O.P. will become the fourth member of Big Bang to release a solo album this year, making Daesung the only member of the group not to drop his own record in 2013.

Singer Seungri's solo album "Let's Talk About Love" dropped in August and G-Dragon's wildly successful double album "Coup D'Etat was released in September.

Big Bang kicks off their Dome Tour of Japan on Nov. 16 at the Seibu Dome in Tokorozawa City, opening up for the group will be YG's newly-crowned boy band WINNER.

[News] IU is Jealous of her Sister’s Curvy Bodies

While a lot of people may be envious of IU’s body, IU is actually jealous of women with curves.
On October 14’s broadcast of KBS’ Hello, IU appeared as a guest with K.Will, EXO’s Kai and Lady.

During the show, a woman appeared saying that her older sister is always bothering her by saying she’s gained weight. The woman revealed that she’s 165 centimeters and 55 kilograms and is completely satisfied with her life, but is receiving stress with her older sister constantly bickering about what she eats and how she eats it.
“I think there’s something like that exists between sisters,” said IU. “I also live with two sisters, and when they see my skinny body, they said that I don’t have anything.”

The MCs asked if her sisters then have something, and IU replied, “My sisters are on the curvy side. When asked if she’s jealous, IU answered with a laugh, “I am jealous.”

Meanwhile, when told she has grown into a mature woman, IU said, “I dyed my hair. I also gained weight and lost some.”
