CL Reveals Abs And Comeback Plans

2NE1‘s CL recently exposed her toned midriff with exclusively designed pieces by Jeremy Scott. The photo was uploaded to Jeremy Scott’s twitter page, where he simply captioned it “HEAD.”

Although the photo is a bit grainy in quality due to less than optimal lighting conditions, it doesn’t take anything away from CL’s fashion prowess. CL’s cropped top and gold accented accessories perfectly complement her energetic, fierce and charismatic persona on stage and as the leader of 2NE1. Jeremy Scott’s decision to part CL’s hair so that it drapes her face in that sexy hollywood babe kind of way, I must say, really helped to elevate this look to haute couture.

Netizens who saw the photo commented, “CL is the best model”, “CL must be Jeremy Scott’s muse” and “Wow, I wish had a figure like that.”

CL is currently busy with preparations for a 2NE1 comeback this year as well as a near future solo debut.

[Soompi 15th] Our Picks for K-Pop MVP’s from the Past 15 Years

No matter how you look at it, 15 years is a long time, which makes it all the more amazing that so many artists that were around at the very early days of Soompi are still alive and kicking today. We thought it would be fitting to go through each of the years Soompi’s been bringing you the best in K-Pop and choose the MVP for each year. The choices were pretty clear for most years, though the competition was particularly fierce in 2008, 2009, and 2010, leading to some disagreement amongst our staff (Hottests vs. Shawols, anyone?). This might explain the explosion of new idol groups that debuted in 2011 – 58, if you’re keeping count. Let’s take a trip down memory lane and revisit our favorite oppas and noonas in their younger days.

YG Artists Supports G-Dragon by Making Special Appearance at Concert

It’s great to see YG artists supporting each other!

On March 31, Big Bang’s G-Dragon opened his solo concert “G-Dragon’s World Tour: One of a Kind” at Olympic Park’s Gymnastic Stadium in Seoul. On this day, he performed “Michi GO” for the first time along with “Heartbreaker,” “One of a Kind” and “Butterfly.” He ended up performing sixteen songs in total.

The concert-goers were able to see other YG artists make special appearances. Epik High’s Tablo dominated the stage with G-Dragon during “Light It Up,”  Lee Hi did her thing with her freshly released track “Rose” and 2NE1’s CL brought the house down with her collaboration with G-Dragon with “The Leaders.” It’s been reported that CL was physically ill and received IV treatment the day before at a hospital. The rest of 2NE1 also made appearances and performed “I am the Best” and “I Love You.”

“Thank you for the warm welcome,” CL directed to the audience. “G-Dragon is really cool. It’s an honor to be invited to perform at this kind of venue. While we’re performing, G-Dragon is getting re-energized to give you all a great performance so please support him until the very end.”

Meanwhile, G-Dragon is planning to meet his fans through his solo concert “G-Dragon’s World Tour: One of a Kind” until the end of June. It’s been estimated that he’ll tour thirteen cities in eight countries and will perform a total of twenty-six times.

The Insta-Queen: chaelin_cl, Still More Chill Than Your Faves

20130331_seoulbeats_2NE1_CLThere are a lot of celebs on Instagram these days, including  some of your favorite K-pop stars. In fact, Amy just a did a piece on the kinda of photos K-pop stars are notorious for taking, and that you’re bound to see if you’re following K-pop idols on Instagram. But I’m here today to tell you about the baddest female on Instagram: CL.

The leader of the YG‘s hit girl group 2NE1 trumps the K-pop Instagram world from her humble handle chaelin_cl. Instead of boring pictures of the weather (Taeyeon) or ridiculously abstract art references (Bang Yong-guk) or typical trolling (pretty much all of Big Bang), CL brings to the feed a sense of forthcoming modernism–high fashion, music, personality, and even a shred of her down to earth humor.

I mean, it’s not everyday that you can get personal with your favorite K-idol bias, or even be part of their daily life the way in which CL has opened up her world. I mean sure, you could amuse yourself with Amber‘s macro reposts or Jay Park‘s shirtless selfies, or you could get some damn culture in your life and follow CL.

CL is also unafraid of sharing her relationship with her members and fellow Big Bang label mates–in other words, she not shy of her roots and bragging about her YG family.

At the same time, however, I guess I shouldn’t give her too much credit. While CL does have a rocking Insta, she is not always the ones taking the photos, so I guess for all that I know she could be staging everything and having some sad YG intern waste their life taking her photos so that we only see the awesome and the fashion-forward. It’s a slight possibility, in all seriousness, but I doubt CL would be so much of a sell out.
