“Hello Seoul!”

The world-famous pop star Justin Bieber held his first Korean concert in the evening of October 10 at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Seoul. The audience numbered over 8000, many of them girl fans whose shrieks of delight continued all throughout the concert. The popular Korean artist G-Dragon of Big Bang also appeared on-stage as a guest.

Other K-pop stars showed up, as well, as fans of Justin. They included Super Junior, Girl’s Generation, Miss A, 2NE1, Wonder Girls, 2AM, and Teen Top.

Before the concert, Justin tweeted, “Show day in Korea. I got some surprises.” This appeared to refer to a performance of his new song “Heartbreaker”.

Justin arrived at the Arena 40 minutes late; the concert was scheduled to begin at 2000 (GMT+9). He slowly came down the stairs on-stage, dressed fashionably in all-white calf-length jacket, T-shirt, pants, and sneakers. On top of all this he had on black sunglasses.

First up was the hit song “All Around The World”. The audience stirred at the gay rhythm of the electronic dance music. When Justin shouted “Jump!” at the climax, they did just that.

Following this, he tossed his jacket away and sang “Take You”, and the quieter rhythm and blues song “Catching Feelings”.
In the middle of it all there was a short video introducing Justin’s rise to stardom. He became famous on YouTube at just 14 before he followed Stevie Wonder’s lead in becoming the youngest singer to top a Billboard chart.

As aforementioned, G-Dragon was a special guest, appearing to sing “Crayon”. Actually there were some hopes that Psy would show up, since they were labelmates through their mutual manager Scooter Braun’s School Boy Records. He didn’t show up, but instead Psy’s Korean labelmate G-Dragon took his place.

As the two-hour-long concert wound down, the audience screamed for an encore, and Justin sang his best hit songs “Boyfriend” and “Baby”. And so, regrettably, Justin Bieber’s first Korean concert ended.

Justin made some tweets on what he thought of the concert after it ended. He wrote, “Korea that was amazing. Thank u for the love. Shout out to my friend @IBGDRGN for coming out on stage tonight. They went crazy.”

2NE1 Discusses Upcoming Album Release, Comeback: 'Now Is The Time To Take Everything To Another Level' Rapper CL Says

It has been three years since 2NE1 has released a full-length album, and for the four members, as Tom Petty sings, "the waiting is the hardest part."

In an interview published with Dazed Digital published on Friday, the four members of 2NE1, CL, Bom, Dara and Minzy, explained what has taken them so long to release their new album and what fans can expect from them when they do.

"After releasing "I Love You," we immediately went on a world tour to meet with our foreign fans which pushed back our album plans," Dara explained.

The group has released new music in bits and bobs, such as their single "Falling In Love" which they premiered on the South Korean TV music program "Inkigayo," in an appearance that they recall preparing vigorously for.

"As much as our fans have been waiting for us, we also couldn't wait to release new material," Minzy said.

Rapper and bandleader CL recalled all the hard work.

"We made an active decision to prepare for that comeback like it was our debut," CL said.

"We wanted to work as hard as possible and prepare as much as we can. We worked on a lot of material and 'Falling In Love' came out at a time that fit the summer season."

Although the band members refused to offer specifics on when their new album would be out or what it would sound like, CL promised it would be a departure from the girl group's earlier material.

"It's hard to reveal all of the exact differences since we have yet to release the material," she said.

"However, I can assure you that you will see the fierce 2NE1 that you have seen on our past releases but also a more developed and evolved 2NE1. We've definitely evolved on this album and can't wait for everyone to hear it."

One of the few details CL did offer was that 2NE1, known for their badass image, is getting in touch with their softer side on the new album, a move she says the members are totally comfortable with.

"It wasn't an attempt to break away from that fierce concept we are known for [on the new album] it was something that came about naturally," she said.

"We recorded fun tracks and decided to show a different side of ourselves that was more pleasant. We did have to adjust a bit to this performance aspect and even asked ourselves, 'are we really allowed to smile like this on stage?'"

"I believe now is the time to take everything to another level," she added.

2NE1 Addresses New Album, Song Delay In Recent Interview: CL, Dara, Bom, And Minzy 'Working Hard To Prepare For The Album'

2NE1 has been globetrotting for promotional activities lately despite a delay in their new album and single, and a recent interview with Dazed Digital sees CL, Dara, Minzy, and Bom addressing the backlash on their delayed comeback.

In this refreshingly candid interview, 2NE1 was asked about the delay in their new album and single, and the YG ladies admitted to feeling impatient as well.

"After releasing 'I Love You' we immediately went on a world tour to meet with our foreign fans which pushed back our album plans," said Dara according to YGLadies.

"Before our (summer) comeback we continuously recorded songs, maintained our health by working out and decided what kind of items and concepts we should wear and do for our new single. We were working hard to prepare for the album," added Bom.

"As much as our fans have been waiting for us, we also couldn't wait to release new material," said Minzy.

It appears that despite the long silence, 2NE1 is eagerly waiting to release their new album and songs. However, given their recent duties at KBEE 2013 and Taeyang's comeback this month, Blackjacks will most likely have to wait a little longer to see their ladies on stage again.

During the interview, 2NE1 also teased their upcoming new album with some interesting but vague details.

"It's hard to reveal all of the exact differences since we have yet to release the material," said CL regarding their evolution since their 2011 album.

"However, I can assure you that you will see the fierce 2NE1 that you have seen on our past releases but also a more developed and evolved 2NE1. We've definitely evolved on this album and can't wait for everyone to hear it."
