Once upon a time, someway, somehow, we came across a track that got us hooked onto what we all have come to know now as K-pop. Despite what it may mean to you now, it all started with a single song, a single group, a single moment of music that resonated with you so strong that you knew you had just found something special. In order to celebrate that moment, we’re presenting you guys with a new bi-weekly segment: The SB Mixtape. Composed of eight tracks, every other week we’ll bring you a playlist featuring songs on a particular theme.

To kick things off, we’re starting off with K-pop Essentials: Part 1. This is an 8-track sampling of the best and the brightest in K-pop – the classics, if you will. Featuring a variety of artists and tracks, we recognize that this list isn’t exhaustive but you’ll just have to wait for the following installments to see what we have up our sleeves.
